How we create our exam questions: Creating Exam Questions

Year 1, Term 1 Exam

Bible & Service: readings, hymn & SS: Government, Citizenship, History, Geography: Characterization with oral expression (presentation: Defend, Persuade, judge, compare/contrast, inform, narration)

Choose someone that you have studied this term and tell me about some of their fine human qualities. Choose from Paul, Benjamin Franklin, Cornelia, King Alfred, or William Tell. Consider telling me about what they think and feel, how they act, how they influence the people around them, and what is unique about the individual.

Music: composer, folk song, hymn: View point with movement (play, puppet show, music, dance, video (still, animated, silent, movie)

Choose one of the music pieces you listened to this term and create a dance to show how it makes you feel: Let us Sing Together, Nothing but the Blood, Jesus, Lover of my Soul, Grace Tis a Changing Sound, or music by Dvorak.

Science: experiments, nature study & Art: artist, technique: Background with creative expression (handicraft, recycled material project, diorama, cooking, land art, or art media: collage, paint, mold, chalk, pencil)

We studied moss and things at the pond this term. Picking one of those things, create a project that shows what is necessary for that thing to survive, the things that would be in their home or habitat. You can make a recycled material project, a diorama, a cooking project, land art, or another art project.

Literature, poetry, and additional reading & Science: experiments, nature study: Mood with analytical expression (game, puzzle, crossword, word search, code)

Make a game or a puzzle that you can play to teach about what you know about birds from our Burgess Bird Book readings.

Literature, poetry, and additional reading & SS: Government, Citizenship, History, geography: Action (Drama, Movement, Change) with visual expression (diagrams, blow-outs, maps, graphic organizers, chart, poster, pamphlet)

Create a map to go along with one of the stories you’ve read or one of your poems: Paddle to the Sea, Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Tempest, Moses the Kitten, Gyp and Sweep, Only One Woof, Beauty and the Beast, Felicia and the Pots of Pink, Aesop’s Fables, How the whale got his throat, How the camel got his hump, How the rhinoceros got his skin, and How the Leopard got his spots.

Science: experiments, nature study: The Greater Meaning with written expression (narration, proposal, biography, persuade, problem/solution, instructions, list, poetry, composition)

Choose one of the experiments we did from your science box and list the directions for completing it and the conclusion.
